Things

Things have been quiet this week.  Eric and Eyre have settled back into school and we are kept busy with homework, making lunches, pick-ups and drop-offs, swimming lessons, tuckshop duty and reading practice.  Even the colossal fantasy of being the world’s greatest living writer is subordinate to the workings of the school week.  But the boys’ education is important, and it is not of my nature to begrudge them the time.  Truth be told, I enjoy being a close part of their lives.  Writing has its own rewards (few of which are tangible), and so does parenting.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has read Balloon Cotton Bush.  It is available at www.smalldogma.com.

Uni

The uni semester is about to begin and so writing time will vanish again for a time, except for sketches done in bed at night before sleep.  It was a great holiday break though – I completed both Vile Structures and Prism and Graded Monotony for better or for worse and they are now with people within the industry for glances etc.  Who can tell?  I can’t, and for that reason I forge on with my uni studies.  The only thing to finish now is E&E’s, which won’t take too much more.

Whenever I get a spare moment, I will be adding to a vocabulary I am constructing for my next project, Phinius BloomPB is to be a towering giant.  I will use the quiet of the bedroom to slowly build this beast theoretically and aesthetically.  Look for its coming within the next 3 – 4 years.

E&E’s Compounding Pharmacy have finally created a storefront at Lulu.  Following the release of their first novel (available now at Lulu) will be the first edition of the zine.  It’s already half-way finished and I can tell you, it looks great!

Well, today I completed Prism and sent it off.  It is by far the best thing I have ever written and it will stand on its own for a long time to come.  Whether it serves as a breakthrough work not, only time will tell.  But damn it’s giant and I’m very happy with it.

Today I completed an interview with Ben Pullar promoting Balloon Cotton Bush.  It should air on 4zzz here in Brisbane in a few weeks.  I will also put a podcast of the thing up.

Completed the MS for Vile Structures today.  I am very happy with it.  I have sent a copy directly to - of – and am eagerly awaiting their reply.  Aside from that, I am just readying a few things for E&E’s Compounding Pharmacy which should be coming out very soon.  Exciting times!

Balloon Cotton Bush is still going along at Small Dogma.  I really need to give it a push along though.  Any ideas?
